Week 2 - Avery the Pianist

Ok, so I have to admit, every time I say the word "pianist"... or type it, it makes me giggle just a little. I'm a mom and a grownup, but sometimes, maturity takes a quick vacation. Maturity aside (obviously), Avery was quite the little pianist :) this week. Just a little background, when I was pregnant with my favorite tiny person, we decided to look around and hire a doula. I wanted (and still want) an all natural birth... laboring at home, heading to the hospital, popping out my undrugged squishy person. As most of you know, however, that is not at all how it went. We hired Mary to be our support and even though I ended up having HELLP resulting in a cesarean, she was still SO supportive. I joke about it now: calling her at 3 am- "Mary!!! I don't know what to do! I came in for some pain killers because of the pain I'm having... and now they are saying I have HELLP.. what the hell is that?! They are going to induce.. what's going on!!?" Clearly, I'm paraphrasing as I really don't remember exactly what was said, but I would like to think I said it in a very calm voice! Just the fact that Mary answered at 3 am calmed me a bit.. then she explained to me what was going on, chilled me out, set me back in line! Seriously, freaking priceless. When someone comes at you with all of these terms and words that you have no idea about... and all you want to know is what's best for the tiny person.. someone to support you like that is so priceless! Even though Mary wasn't THERE when Avery was born, Buddy and I were so happy that we had her support in such a scary time. Even though my mom Googled what HELLP was (CURSE GOOGLE) the information Mary had and gave us was a little more reassuring haha.. love you Mom, your googling and concern and love was also priceless!!

So yea, that's the background on Mary and Birthing Boutique, her business! She was having a get together for current and past clients just to hang out and meet each other, let the kids meet and eat some pizza and cupcakes. I'm always a tish nervous when Avery gets together with other kids.. she's such a sweetheart and TOTALLY curious about other kids, but she is with either Buddy, my dad or me almost 100% of the time. So I'm always curious how she is going to act with other people her age. She's so friendly and she had such a great time with all of them. Mostly, she likes to just observe and see what all of the cool kids are doing and occasionally she will jump in and play. Her best friend, however, at this party, was the mini grand piano at the top of the stairs. We were all just hanging out and all of a sudden, I hear a pounding on the piano.. yup, that's my child (Buddy was at the top of the stairs with her, for the record)! I'm not saying it's for sure or anything, but she's practically Mozart.. a piano prodigy. Pretty sure she was playing Mozarts Piano Concerto No. 23 in A major, no big deal. Anyway, I had my camera along for the ride to take some pictures of the partay, so I just snuck a few of my adorable Mozart... seriously though, it was straight up banging.. kiilled it!!!

True focus and dedication.... and crazy curls :)
