Week 50 - Come On It's Lovely Weather for a ... Sled Ride!!!

I'm not going to lie, I think I am having more fun this Holiday season than Avery is (actually, that's probably not possible)! Baking cookies, drinking egg nog and hot cocoa (not together), decorating, visiting Santa, watching Christmas movies and playing in the snow!! We had a HUGE snowstorm this past week and by the end of the day, hadn't cleared any of it off of our drive way. Shit, the snowplowers hadn't even come to do our road. So it looked like a huge fluffy marshmallow land outside. Buddy decided he was going to head out and clean off the driveway and we figured we could have Avery snow suit up and go out and help him while Bryan napped. By the time Buddy got outside (I think this was intentional) the neighbors had gone by and cleaned off our driveway with their snowblower. Very strategic of Buddy to wait! With the extra time, Buddy realized that it would be fun to get out his snowboard and let Avery ride down the driveway on it. Luckily, nobody was driving on our street because she would zoom out into the street each time. It was like our own little sledding hill. We finally started to freeze after playing for so long and the only way we could get our little outdoorsy tot inside is by telling her we could make some Hot Cocoa :) She doesn't hesitate when she hears that!!

Just checking it all out!

If you can't spot this girl in the snow... you are blind.

Had to have her sippy cup along for the ride for awhile.

Wasn't quite sure she wanted to walk in the snow.

But she started getting a bit crazy.. and walked in a few feet. That's it.

Traded the sippy cup for a snowboard.

Not having any fun at all.
It was also little boy's 2 month birthday this week!! So naturally we had to take pictures of that!! I love how Avery still somehow makes her way into these pictures as well :)

These are becoming my favorite pictures.

I told them to act like they weren't having any fun at all.

Bryan is thrilled.

At least I'm getting some good eye contact here

The progression of Avery's bi-polar disorder.
Angry

Kinda angry but still smiling

CHEEEEESE!

Big two month old boy.

Gazing off into the distance.

Such a little sack of potatoes.

I can officially get him to look at me by talking to him.

Whoops

I love those big bright eyes

Tiny boy smiles

His arms are constantly moving.. like he is trying to fly

Goofy little smile!!
Avery's 2 Month Picture

A long time ago I got a picture of Avery while she was sleeping. It was a closeup of her eye lashes from the side. We loved it so much that we made a canvas out of it and put it up in our room. So, now I am trying to take a similar one of Bryan. I didn't have any luck this week but figured I would post the "outtakes" because they are still adorable.
His hair looks so dark here. I just love tiny little profiles

And tiny little fists.

Hair shot!!! Sleeping babies are so damn sweet!! I could stare at this boy sleeping for HOURS!!

Week 49 - SANTA!!! I Know Him!!!

The Almighty Advent Calendar presented Avery with the joy of going to visit Santa this week. She's funny because she knows who Santa is but I don't think she grasps the magnitude of his excellence. We keep telling her that Santa brings presents to good little boys and girls on Christmas each year.. but all we get out of her when we say that is an excited "SANT!!!" and "PREZ" after we say those two words. I feel like she may understand more than what it seems because she was a bit more in awe of the good ol' Jolly Man this year. When she first sat down on his lap, she looked up at him trying to figure out who he was and then it almost clicked, "Sant!" We didn't get a smile from her this year, there was a little bit of one at the beginning, but at least it wasn't a scream. Bryan, on the other hand, didn't really know what was going on.

Looking at the camera. I have to say, this is one of the best Santas I have ever seen! And the two cutest kids.

Clearly, Bryan was interested in something over his shoulder. Or he's just striking a pose. We have a little bit of a smirk from the big goof!

Such a nice Santa! I love the Bass Pro Shops set up!!! Got right through the line in 10 minutes and get to see this cool guy!!

Bass also has a huge fish tank which clearly became her favorite part of the store.

She sure loves her "feesh"!

Week 48 - 'Tis the Season

What a busy week!!! We started our new tradition of the Advent Calendar this week, seeing as the month of December officially started. I decided to do more of a task/gift thing for the things in the calendar which has turned out to be one of my greater ideas. It's fun for her and for us. Then, on days that I don't have my shit together, I just give her a little present or a piece of candy. Best of both worlds!! We started the first day with the task of going to get our Christmas tree and decorating it. Obviously, Avery wasn't completely sure what was going on but she was sure that she loves trees! She kept just saying "Tree!!!!" So we went and got the tree and I put the lights on it when she was napping. It was so much fun seeing the magic and excitement in her eyes when she saw the tree all lit up!! We then spent the time after dinner decorating the tree. She was so cute and tried to put a couple of ornaments on the tree (in the exact same spot) then started just supplying Buddy with the ornaments to put on the tree. I think it turned out pretty perfect and we have yet to have a problem with her messing with the ornaments and tree (KNOCK ON WOOD)
We then had a few days of bendy snowmen, santas, candy and matchbox cars which led to the Frozen on Ice activity on Saturday. Again, she wasn't completely sure what we were going to be doing, but she did know she loved the song "Let it Go" and had been singing it for that past few days. She LOVED it. Sat at the edge of her seat watching so intently for a good part of the show! I loved watching her watch it. We even took her out to dinner on a little date after (where mom got a pretty delicious and large margarita) Meanwhile, Bryan hung out with Mah Kettle (My mom) and got some great one on one time with her :) It was the perfect night with our big girl and she even missed her "Bry!" The calendar is just great... even helps with taking pictures because I find myself wanting to capture it all!!!

After opening her first bag on the calendar!

Haha, I love how proper she is sitting! We work on posture all of the time.

She didn't really understand the calendar at first, but now she walks right down the stairs in the morning and waits to open the next one (while trying to hide the fact that she's feeling the other bags to make sure there's nothing in them)
Checking out the tree prospects.

Bryan was really nervous that they would pick out a bad tree.

All packed up with our new tree in tow.

Tree decorating time in matching Christmas PJs. This is why you have kids! :)

Putting an ornament on the tree!

Her focus face and her tree decorating hair.

His only job was to hang out and look cute!!

She absolutely loved it. Even had a sippy of Egg Nog.

Goodness gracious.... I love this picture.

Focus. Christmas Tree decorating is NO joke.

Final Product.

Just a little hot cocoa action. I'm still working on the hot cocoa stains on this shirt.

She was so proud that she was drinking from the mug.

Had to get some Christmas lights in the background!

Someone loves Hot Chocolate!

The cutest girl I know.

Best Buds!

"Excuse me Father, I do declare that I would like to cease taking pictures"

Heading to see Frozen On Ice!!!!
